The RBC Blue Water Pledge

What is RBC Blue Water Project

The RBC Blue Water Project is a wide-ranging, multi-year program to help foster a culture of water stewardship, so that people have clean, fresh water today and tomorrow.

Water is fundamental to all life on the planet. Lack of access to clean, fresh water is considered to be one of the major threats to human health and economic development around the world.

Part of the RBC Blue Water Project is a grant program of $50 million over ten years. In August 2009, RBC announced its latest round of RBC Blue Water Project Leadership Grant recipients. Thirty-one organizations, selected out of 159 applicants from around the world, now become RBC Blue Water Project Members (opens new window), and will share $4.1 million in grants.

Through the RBC Blue Water Project, we will also:

  • Reduce the intensity of RBC's own water footprint;
  • Embark on education and awareness programs for employees and clients to promote sustainable water use and create an understanding of the value and vulnerability of our water resources;
  • Increase our ability to provide financial services to innovative water technology companies and water-related services, and encourage the growth of this business sector;
  • Encourage other organizations to get involved, fostering collaboration among and between all sectors.

The next deadline for Leadership Grant applications is March 2010. We accept applications for Community Action Grants (opens new window) all year round.
